This exhibition was held at NGTVSPC, a collective-run punk/metal/experimental music and performance venue and art gallery, located on Princess St. in Winnipeg, from Nov. 30 – Dec. 7, 2012. In it, I was starting to invest thought into painting’s inseparable nature with architecture and the arbitrariness of presentation. I became fixated on the arrangements or configurations of the component parts, while drawing attention to the architectural details of the space. It was my intention with this work to use simple forms and strategic, but seemingly indifferent arrangements that challenged the abundant use of colour. That is, despite being drawn into the pieces by colour, the viewer is then pulled back by the lack of surface characteristics and imagery to have their attention drawn to the surrounding environment.
